Man City in limbo

Long time jolly Claudio Ranieri is out of the running to replace Stuart Pearce at Man City after plumping for the more attractive option of Juventus.

Almost £500,000 has been matched on www.betfair.com with former Liverpool and Lyon gaffer Gerard Houillier now heading the market at 6.20.

The market has provided few clues so far, with my initial pick Paul Jewell yo-yoing significantly before coming in for some recent support (22.00).

Billy Davies has also been supported and is now 2nd favourite at 9.00.

I am staying out of the market for now, as their seems to be no clues as to the next Man City manager - whoever takes up the job has a difficult task to improve their fortunes and it could be a season of struggle ahead for City
